Duck

A DUCK, a bird with a thick body covered with water-proof feathers. A duck has webbed and is related to goose and flatter bill. A duck quacks (kwek, kwek, kwek), sometime whistles (hwus, hwus, hwus) rather than honk. Male duck is called "drake" (so, what do you think about "mandrake"?) and female is called "duck".

Most of ducks are good to eat (do not worry with bird flu) and some taste like fish. Farmers raise most of ducks that person eats. Many wild ducks are also killed for food (especially by those who are in hunger and very much greedy).

A duck spends much the time in the water. Their webbed feet make it a fine swimmer. Its thin legs are far on its body. The feet serve as paddles. A duck spreads its three toes and stretches out the webbing when it swims. But its legs and feet, which help duck swims easily, make it hard to walk.

Duck researchers classify ducks into eight main groups:

• Domestic Duck
• Ruddy Duck
• Tree Duck
• Dabbling Duck
• Fresh Water Diving Duck
• Wood Duck
• Eider, and
• Diving Sea Duck

Most of wild ducks of inland lakes and marshes are dabbling ducks or fresh water ducks.
